Kyle Bartley is determined to remain positive, despite his frustration at being kept from making an impact at Swansea.

The 21-year-old signed for the Welsh club for £1million in the summer, but managed just one appearance before suffering a thigh injury.

The Capital One Cup outing against Barnsley was supposed to be a launch-pad, as the former Sheffield United and Rangers loanee attempted to secure a regular spot in Michael Laudrup's first team.

But just days later he suffered the injury that threatens to keep him out until mid-December.

"It's a strange one because I picked it up in training but I don't know how I did it," he said. "I didn't feel any pain at the time."

But he's determined not to let the situation get him down.

He continued: "I've reached the five-week stage today, I've been for a scan recently and I was told it was coming along well.

"I've got another eight weeks of recovery ahead of me, so I am getting there. It wasn't too bad in the first couple of weeks, but then you're out of the group and in the gym on your own a lot.

"But I can't push myself too much too soon as I could knock my recovery back, even though it has been very frustrating for me.

"But I'll continue working away in the gym, along with receiving massages and physio work to help my recovery. I'll have another scan in a couple of weeks and hopefully that will be another good round of news."
