Former Holland international Edgar Davids believes he has plenty to offer Barnet, both on a coaching and playing level.

The League Two outfit announced on Thursday that Davids has been recruited to work as co-manager alongside Mark Robson and to provide playing cover when required.

The 39-year-old ex-Tottenham and AC Milan midfielder is delighted to have been offered an opportunity at Underhill.

Davids is keen to get into coaching and believes working with a club that are currently rooted to the foot of League Two offers him an ideal environment in which to learn his trade.

On his decision to link up with Barnet, Davids told Sky Sports: "It's my local club and they have great facilities and a lot of talented players, so it's a good combination.

"I am doing my coaching badges as well, so it was a great opportunity."

Asked how his partnership with Robson, who was appointed head coach over the summer, will work, Davids added: "We are going to feed off each other. He has his experience of being a Premiership coach and I have my experiences as a player, so we will try to combine it. I have been doing my badges in Holland.

"It's a chance to finish my coaching badges and to see how the club works, the mechanisms, and to work with the talent they have at Barnet."

Davids is also open to the idea of playing as often as possible, with a UEFA Champions League winner from his days at Ajax reluctant to hang up his boots just yet.

He said: "I just want to have some fun and see how long my legs can go.

"I want to have fun and I still want to contribute and I believe this is the right place for me."
