Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini says he is optimistic that his knee problem will not keep him on the sidelines for too long.
The Belgium international sustained the injury during last Saturday's 2-2 draw at Wigan, although it was not picked up until 48 hours later.
He is currently away with Belgium but he will sit out their World Cup qualifiers with Serbia and Scotland, and is to return to his club next Monday.
Having had the injury scanned, Fellaini said: "I am currently suffering from a knee injury. Fortunately, it is not too serious, but I will have to miss the two games with Belgium.
"I am hoping to be back playing for Everton as soon as possible.
"I am extremely disappointed and I now have to rest in order to get back to full fitness, so I can help the team with some important games coming up."
Everton's next Premier League clash is away at bottom club QPR a week on Sunday, before they host the Merseyside derby against Liverpool the following Sunday.
