Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray believes Jason Steele's 'magnificent' form has silenced the young goalkeeper's doubters.
Mowbray has kept faith with 22-year-old Steele, despite criticism from a small section of fans, and he was named man-of-the-match following last weekend's 2-1 victory at Watford.
His fine displays have been acknowledged by Mowbray, who expects the England Under-21 player to remain a regular for years to come.
"Jason's form has been magnificent all season. In my time here I've heard the murmurings but you've got to give young goalkeepers opportunities to play," he told Evening Gazette.
"I think he's doing exceptionally well. He's a big, big talent and his personality's great for the job and he's going to be very important for us."
Fellow Boro youngster Cameron Park has pulled out of the Scotland Under-21 squad due to illness.
Park had been called up for the upcoming friendlies against the USA and Canada, but he withdrew after being forced off in a Boro Development squad match earlier this week.
