Birmingham are poised to sign experienced midfielder Papa Bouba Diop on a short-term contract.
The 34-year-old has agreed terms and passed a medical but the Blues are waiting on a visa application before a one-month deal is completed.
Diop helped West Ham to promotion to the Premier League last season and he has impressed Birmingham boss Lee Clark during his trial at St Andrew's.
The Senegal international has also played in for Fulham and Portsmouth, with whom he won the FA Cup in 2008.
