Barcelona¿s defensive injury problems have taken a turn for the worse after Dani Alves was ruled out for up to three weeks with a damaged thigh muscle.
The full-back had to be substituted in the first half of Sunday's El Clasico draw with Real Madrid and was replaced by Martin Montoya.
Tests have since discovered a grade one tear to his left thigh muscle and Barcelona have announced the injury on their official website.
Alves will now miss Brazil's friendly internationals against Iraq and Japan on 11th October and 16th October, respectively.
He also looks likely to be out for Barcelona's La Liga trips to Deportivo la Coruna and Rayo Vallecano, and their home UEFA Champions League tie with Celtic.
