Blackburn Rovers will draw up their list of managerial candidates on Thursday after receiving more than 20 significant applications which could include Alan Shearer.

"But when we deem it fit to speak to someone who is in that category, I think we will make the first approach." While a shortlist is planned for Thursday, Blackburn want to take their time over appointing a successor to Kean, with Eric Black currently in caretaker charge. "I would love to do it as soon as possible," said Singh when asked about a timeframe for an appointment. "It could be one week, it could be three weeks. "So while we are in a hurry to appoint a new manager, we are not going to be rushed into it." Singh is also adamant the next manager at Blackburn will have full control of team selection amid suggestions Kean was sometimes overruled. "I have never interfered with team selection and, obviously, someone who comes in will have all my support," said Singh. "That is the way it should really be."
