West Brom boss Steve Clarke remains optimistic that Jonas Olsson will sign a new deal with the club.
The Swedish international is in the final year of his contract at The Hawthorns and has been strongly linked with a move away from the club.
West Ham United came close to landing him in the summer, but the deal was not finalised and he has started the season well under Clarke's new regime.
And Clarke is hopeful a deal can be struck, saying: "Jonas' discussions are ongoing. The fact that his agent was here tells you that.
"We've made it clear we want him to stay but Jonas has been terrific in the matches he's played since I've been here.
"The contract talks certainly haven't been playing on his mind and he has played a big part for Albion."
