Wigan have invited Oman international Eid Al Farsi for a one-week trial, the Oman Football Association (OFA) confirmed.
Al Farsi, who plies his trade with local club Al Arouba, impressed Wigan officials in Oman's 4-1 loss to Republic of Ireland back in September where he scored his country's solitary goal.
OFA chairman Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi confirmed they have received a formal request from the Premier League outfit and will let the 25 year-old travel to England after October 16th's World Cup qualifier against Jordan.
"We have received an official letter from Wigan to send Eid Al Farsi for a week so that they could evaluate his performance and then decide if they want to hire him or not," he told the Times of Oman.
"It's too early to predict (if he will be successful) that but it is great news for Oman Football. We have seen in the past some players were also called for trials by various clubs but I hope Eid could make an impression. I hope he succeeds in it."
Wigan already have Al Farsi's compatriot Ali Al Habsi at DW Stadium and he is thought to have recommended his compatriot to manager Roberto Martinez.
