Former Senegal international Papa Bouba Diop is waiting for an answer from Birmingham City to see if he has won a contract with the Championship club.
The 34-year-old is a free agent after his contract with West Ham United expired at the end of the season.
The former Fulham midfielder has been training with Lee Clark's men and is now hoping to agree a move to St Andrew's.
"I am trying to convince the managerial staff of Birmingham," he told Sky Sports.
"If I can get a deal here, I would like it. Birmingham is a big club, at my age it is a great challenge. I hope to impress them and get a contract."
