Sky Bet have installed Tim Sherwood as the early favourite to be the next Blackburn boss after Steve Kean's resignation.
The news comes as little surprise despite Rovers sitting third in the Championship table after seven games, with speculation surrounding his future failing to die down following the club's relegation from the Premier League last season.
The online betting firm make former Rovers captain Sherwood, who is currently assistant first-team coach at Tottenham, the 6/4 favourite to take the reins at Ewood Park, with club legend Alan Shearer the 3/1 second favourite.
Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "Suggestions were already floating around in the media that Rovers were preparing to move for Sherwood and Kean's resignation obviously supports such rumours.
"However, it remains to be seen whether he will be interested in the job given the turmoil at Ewood Park under the current ownership, while compensation would also be an issue with Sherwood given his role at Spurs."
Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has also been backed for the role, coming in from 10/1 to 6/1, while Mick McCarthy is also available after leaving Wolves last season and is 7/1 for the post.
Colin Hendry, Eric Black, Alex McLeish and Rafael Benitez are all also in the betting at 20/1.
