Hearts captain Marius Zaliukas hopes contract talks at the club come sooner rather than later to clear up the uncertainty over his future.

Other experienced players were not offered deals this summer as Hearts slashed their wage budget and the Lithuania defender admits the issue might become a concern.

"It is quiet and I don't know what's going to happen but I am trying to focus on my football and not think about it," said Zaliukas.

"I am not like a 20 or 22 years old that I shouldn't be worried. I'm getting to 29 soon and it is going to be a headache later on.

"I have been here six years and it has been up and down but basically I am happy.

"I am open to talks and probably they are going to be soon."
