Norwich manager Chris Hughton is backing striker Grant Holt to swiftly rediscover his goal scoring form for the club.

Holt was top marksman for the Canaries last term, but he has still to find the net in the current campaign.

Hughton is unconcerned though as he has been happy with Holt's contribution and believes the player's dry spell is just part and parcel of his trade.

"He was our top goal scorer last season but he didn't score in the first six games," said Hughton.

"That's what strikers are used to. The best strikers around have been through long periods when they haven't scored goals.

"If your forward players are contributing towards a performance then that's first and foremost. If they continue to do that it is only a matter of time before they score goals."

Meanwhile, Hughton reckons both Norwich and Saturday's opponents Liverpool are in false positions near the foot of the Premier League table.

"We have certainly played well enough in the last four games to have got more than we have got and they would probably say the same," Hughton added.
