Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard is hoping to play some part in his side's Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle tonight.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his senior competitive bow but was on the bench for last season's 3-0 Premier League defeat on Tyneside and was also an unused substitute when the Red Devils exited last season's League Cup to Crystal Palace.
Lingard, a product of United's youth academy, caught the eye on their pre-season tour and could be called on by Sir Alex Ferguson to make his first-team debut against the Magpies at Old Trafford.
"There will probably be some younger lads involved against Newcastle and we'll have to wait and see if the boss calls me up," Lingard told the club's official website.
"Hopefully he will."
The midfielder will look to United's established senior stars for guidance if he is selected.
"You need the experience of the older players to be there with you and help you along the way," he added. "Newcastle are a strong team as well, so it should be a good game."
