Roma have been awarded a 3-0 victory over Cagliari for the Serie A game that was postponed on Sunday for safety reasons.
Cagliari defied orders to play the match in an empty stadium with club president Massimo Cellino encouraging fans via the official website to flock to the ground.
But after frantic discussions between the authorities the match was postponed and Roma have subsequently been given the three points and a walkover 3-0 win.
The announcement from the Italian league on Monday was heavily critical of Cagliari, claiming the club's actions were "a blatant violation" of its rules.
The Rossoblu could now face further sanctions as the matter has also been referred to the Italian Football Federation.
