Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata cannot wait to return to Premier League action and is ready to get even better after enjoying an extended summer break.
After helping Chelsea to Champions League glory in May, Mata then joined up with Spain both for the European Championship in June and London Olympics in July.
Chelsea gave Mata an extended holiday following his summer exertions before re-joining the squad on the eve of the new season.
Spain then agreed to leave Mata out of the squad for the recent friendly with Saudi Arabia and World Cup qualifier with Georgia, affording the playmaker another chance to re-charge his batteries.
He is set to make his first Premier League appearance for nearly a month against Stoke on Saturday and the former Valencia man admits he cannot wait to get back into action.
He also insists he is determined to keep on improving and will not simply bask in the achievements of last season.
"The break was important for me because it is a busy season with five trophies," he told the Evening Standard.
"It was a busy summer for me with the European Championship and the Olympics but now I feel fit and strong. I want to play because I love to play football.
"My first season here was amazing for me but I want to improve. I can because I am still young and believe I can always get better. I would like to score more goals, create more goals and learn to defend better."
