Frenchman says Gunners are in a 'good position' after win

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud insists he was satisfied with his own individual performance against his former club Montpellier in Tuesday night's Champions League victory. The Gunners needed goals from Lukas Podolski and Gervinho to complete a comeback win in their opening match of Group B at the Stade de la Mosson. However, the performances of Giroud have become a major talking point amongst Arsenal fans following his ponderous displays in front of goal this season. The 25-year-old striker has failed to hit the target since his £12million move from the French champions this summer. Arsene Wenger recently admitted Giroud only needs a goal to kick-start his Arsenal career although the player was more than satisfied with his display against his former employers. "I tried not to really think about the context of the match," insisted Giroud in L'Equipe. "I was just so happy to come back here, even if I didn't score. "I had a decisive assist in our first goal and I was quite satisfied with my own performance. "We won and now we are in a good position. We remain undefeated and that is perfect for us."
