Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko could not hide his frustration after seeing his side concede two late goals against Real Madrid.
City were on the verge of a memorable UEFA Champions League victory at the Bernabeu but Karim Benzema equalised and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a last-minute winner to give the hosts a 3-2 win.
Dzeko had opened the scoring against the run of play in the second half before Marcelo's deflected equaliser.
But Aleksandar Kolarov's free-kick looked to have won Roberto Mancini's men the game late on and Dzeko admits his team-mates must learn if they are to be successful in Europe.
Dzeko told Sky Sports: "We led 1-0 and then 2-1, then we gave away these two goals at the end.
"This shouldn't have happened because if you want to win big trophies you shouldn't lose this game.
"I hope we can get stronger because it was almost like we had not enough experience.
"We were 2-1 and in three or four minutes we gave away two goals. It was too easy... too easy."
