Peter Odemwingie: The forward was sent off on his return to the Albion starting XI
West Bromwich Albion forward Peter Odemwingie admits he fears for his starting place following his reckless sending-off at Premier League rivals Fulham.
The Nigeria international, 31, was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Cottagers defender Sascha Riether in the first half of the Baggies' 3-0 defeat on Saturday.
He faces a three-match ban which will rule him out of top-flight games against Reading and Aston Villa, plus the League Cup tie with Liverpool.
And Odemwingie, who apologised for his actions immediately after the Craven Cottage match, believes he could slip behind the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Chris Brunt in Baggies boss Steve Clarke's plans when his suspension finishes.
"We have a lot of good players on the bench and players that didn't even make the squad on Saturday and are very good," Odemwingie told the Express and Star.
"I will work hard over the next couple of weeks to make sure I don't lose my position but it is a worry that I might not get my starting shirt back.
"I feel like I've let myself down. It really feels very bad. I also let my team-mates, the club and fans down. I'm sorry."
