Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini believes Sergio Aguero has a chance of being fit to face Real Madrid.

Mancini hopeful over striker's fitness

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini believes Sergio Aguero has a chance of being fit to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Aguero has been out injured since damaging his knee on the opening weekend of the Premier League season against Southampton. Mancini decided not to risk Aguero for Saturday's draw at Stoke and he will give the Argentine until the last minute to prove his fitness for their Champions League opener at the Bernabeu. "I think he can have a chance," Mancini said. "Sergio will travel with us. He worked with the team in the last three days before the Stoke game. We didn't want to take any risks with him - but maybe he can be ready for Madrid. "Will he start? I don't know."

Barry boost

Mancini was also boosted by the return of Gareth Barry from injury at the Britannia Stadium. Barry made his first appearance of the season as a substitute against Stoke and he gives Mancini another option for the defensive midfield role. "I'm happy for Gareth after three months to play again," added Mancini. "It's important for us because he's an important player and he had 30 minutes and did well."
