Latics snap up Baxter

Oldham Athletic have signed trialist Jose Baxter on a four-month deal at the League One club.

The former Everton striker has been training with the Latics for the last week and could feature for the first time when Paul Dickov's side play Notts County at Boundary Park. The 20-year-old left the Toffees in the summer after rejecting their offer of a new two-year contract due to his desire to play regular first-team football. Baxter told the club's official website: "I am made up to have joined Latics and all I want to do is to kick a football again. "I have enjoyed the last week here. The club has a great young manager and a good staff. It is a good, family club and there is a good, young team." Meanwhile, on-loan striker Jordan Slew has gone back to Blackburn with a back injury.
