Scotland international defender Andy Webster has backed coach Craig Levein despite their disappointing start to the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Levein's side have picked up just two points from their opening two Group A fixtures, drawing first 0-0 with Serbia last Friday and then 1-1 with Macedonia.
The Scotland coach has come under pressure, but Webster has confidence in the 47-year-old to turn their fortunes around.
Leading from front
"The manager will always lead from the front," he said in the
Daily Record. "He will always stand up and be counted.
"It is not in his nature to do anything else. He is a great icon for the players to look up to.
"You need to be single-minded in football at all times, to know what you want and how to go about achieving it."
Webster added that he and his team-mates are 'disappointed' with Scotland's results so far in the qualifiers.
Looking forward
"We are disappointed with the results," said the 30-year-old. "Everybody is disappointed but we need to put that disappointment to one side and concentrate on the football.
"We are now looking forward to two big games next month that we will be looking to win.
"Maybe we are better suited to playing away from home, so we can hit on the counter-attack.
"It is certainly a lot harder to go out and break a team down.
"When you go away from home, you look to keep it tight and hit on the counter. That is what has happened with both Serbia and Macedonia at Hampsen.
"Hopefully we can pick up points ourselves by doing that."
Scotland will face Wales and Belgium in their next Group A games in October.
