Sheffield United's appeals against two red cards given during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe have been rejected.
Michael Doyle received his marching orders 15 minutes into the match at Glanford Park, while fellow midfielder Ryan Flynn was dismissed after half-time.
The pair will begin three-match suspensions by sitting out this weekend's forthcoming clash with Scunthorpe's fellow strugglers Bury.
"We thought we had a good case in attempting to get Saturday's decisions overturned so, obviously, we are very frustrated with today's decision," said manager Danny Wilson on United's official website.
Doyle and Flynn are now also unavailable for the League One matches with Yeovil and Yorkshire neighbours Doncaster.
