Artur Boruc says he was close to signing for Queens Park Rangers as the former Celtic goalkeeper continues his search for a new club.
The Poland international left Celtic to join Fiorentina in 2010, but opted not to sign a new contract with the Serie A club earlier this summer.
He was linked with a move to QPR, but any possibility of a deal fell through when the Premier League club snapped up Julio Cesar from Inter Milan.
Boruc admits he is surprised to still be without a club after featuring regularly for Fiorentina and is now waiting for the right offer to materialise.
"I'm fit and available and a little bit surprised to be in this situation following two good seasons in Serie A with Fiorentina," said Boruc.
"I was offered an extension with Fiorentina but felt it was the right time for a change and have had several other offers which just didn't feel right at the time.
"I almost signed with QPR before Julio Cesar became available but despite that I am looking forward to my next challenge."
The 32-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Ukrainian side FC Dnipro, while Bundesliga club Werder Bremen are also reportedly interested.
