Swansea City defender Ben Davies has been called up to the Wales squad for their first two World Cup qualifiers.

Davies replaces Swansea team-mate Neil Taylor, who has been ruled out for the season with a broken ankle suffered in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

Teenager Davies has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and was handed his first start for the Swans in last week's Capital One Cup win over Barnsley.

Wales coach Chris Coleman had already summoned Cardiff striker Rob Earnshaw for Friday's home game against Belgium and the following Tuesday's trip to Serbia.

The new additions come after Craig Bellamy (calf) and Andrew Crofts joined Taylor in withdrawing from Coleman's original squad.

Celtic's Joe Ledley (groin), Sunderland's David Vaughan (groin), Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey (knee) and West Ham's Jack Collison (knee) were all absent from Coleman's initial 23-man selection.

Uncapped Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams was included in the squad, as was Leicester's Andy King.
