Sky Sports understands Nigel De Jong has joined AC Milan from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old year had fallen down the pecking order at City as Roberto Mancini boosted his pool of midfield options.
De Jong's combative skills had made him a firm favourite with the City fans due to his wholehearted displays.
However, he only made 14 appearances in the Premier League last season as the Blues claimed the league title.
Milan have offered De Jong a chance to revive his club career after it hit the buffers in England, and it is a challenge he has accepted.
De Jong has won league championships in his native Holland and England, and will now hope he can make it a hat-trick of titles with his new outfit.
