Ipswich have parted company with Delaney by mutual consent, with the Republic of Ireland international due to be out of contract at the end of the season having made the move to Portman Road in the summer of 2009. The news has alerted Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman, who is looking to bolster his defensive options. Freedman is set to take the former Hull City and Queens Park Rangers man on a short-term deal until January. Delaney went on to make 105 appearances for Ipswich, scoring three goals in the process. Future But he struggled to secure a regular first-team berth last season and has not been involved in this campaign, leading to his early departure. "I have enjoyed my time at Ipswich but it seems the right time to move on," he told the club's official website. "I have been here three-and-a-half years now and am probably the longest serving player at the club but not being in the side made me think about my future and it's time for a change. "I'd like to wish the club the best of luck for the future." Ipswich manager Paul Jewell said: "Damien has been a good servant to the club and we thank him for that and wish him every success."
