Everton have made a bid for FC Copenhagen's Costa Rica international defender Bryan Oviedo, the Danish club have confirmed.

Copenhagen full-back could be on his way to Goodison

Everton have made a bid for FC Copenhagen's Costa Rica international defender Bryan Oviedo, the Danish club have confirmed. The left-back, who can also play on the left side of midfield, is entering the final year of his contract and has been linked with a move throughout the summer. It is understood that David Moyes has already seen one offer turned down, but the Toffees boss has now returned with an improved bid of £5million for the 22-year-old. A statement on the Danish club's official website read: "We can confirm that the stories saying that we have received an offer from Everton for Bryan Oviedo are true. "No further comments will be given at this time." The defender's possible move to Goodison Park would provide additional back-up to England international Leighton Baines, who Everton insist will not be on the move in the current transfer window. Oviedo was also linked with Manchester United before they brought in Alexander Buttner as additional cover for Patrice Evra.
