Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal at White Hart Lane.
Defoe has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer after finding his starts limited last season.
The 29-year-old had raised concerns over his future if he is not playing regularly, but Andre Villas-Boas has reassured him that he is an important part of his plans.
The former West Ham and Portsmouth forward is thought to have signed a new three-year deal to keep him at Spurs.
Defoe announced the news of his new contract on Twitter, saying: "Fantastic week signed my new contract at spurs & meeting up with England on Monday for 2 important games #goalsgoalsgoals."
The news is a boost for Spurs as they look to add to their squad before the close of the transfer window on Friday.
