Loic Remy: Will not be joining Spurs this summer, says Villas-Boas
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out bringing Marseille striker Loic Remy to White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes.
Reports on Thursday suggested Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had travelled to the Ligue 1 club to try and sign the 25-year-old frontman.
The North Londoners have money to spend ahead of Friday's deadline following the sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid.
But Villas-Boas has firmly denied Tottenham are targeting a late deal for Remy.
He told a press conference: "There was massive speculation today with Remy and that's not the case."
Asked if he could absolutely confirm that the France international will not be coming to Tottenham, Villas-Boas replied: "Yes."
Another player to have been heavily linked with Spurs this summer is Porto's star playmaker Joao Moutinho.
But Villas-Boas admits the 25-year-old Portugal international could be out of Tottenham's price range.
He said: "I've spoken about this player before. Porto is an extremely difficult club to deal with and I think the players' value is over what Tottenham can afford."
The manager says a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk's attacking midfielder Willian also appears unlikely after initial talks.
"We had initial contact with Shakhtar," added Villas-Boas. "Again, Shakhtar is a wealthy club with a wealthy owner and not easy to deal with.
"'We have approached the club and the player with contacts and at the moment it doesn't seem to be happening."
Tottenham have been linked with Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as they plan for the eventual retirement of veteran shot-stopper Brad Friedel.
Villas-Boas says it is an area of his squad he is looking to strengthen but says it might not be done in the current transfer window.
The boss added: "We are very comfortable with our goalkeepers. We can take into account that there's a future we have to prepare.
"On that sense we've studied possibilities on that position. It doesn't mean we could conclude a deal for that position in this window."
