Jewell keen to land long-term target

Sky Sports understands Ipswich are lining up a move for Leicester City defender Sean St Ledger. Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is keen to bolster his defensive options after a disappointing start to the season and he sees St Ledger as someone who can shore up his defensive problems. Jewell has been a long-term admirer of St Ledger and tried to sign him last January only for the move to fall through at the last minute. St Ledger, who made his first appearance of the season in the midweek Capital One Cup defeat to Burton, could find himself down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium this term. The Republic of Ireland international could be interested in a move away in search of regular first-team football to safeguard his place in Giovanni Trapattoni's plans. Leicester are thought to be willing to let the former Middlesbrough and Preston man move on and Ipswich hope to take him on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
