Sky Sports understands Spanish sides Malaga and Celta Vigo have entered the race to sign forward Nikola Zigic from Birmingham.
The Serbia international was previously linked with a move to Mallorca this summer but it is thought the potential transfer stalled after the clubs could not agree terms.
However, the former Valencia forward could still move back to La Liga after Malaga and Celta Vigo became the latest clubs to target his signature.
Zigic has netted 22 goals in 79 appearances for Birmingham, memorably scoring the opener in their 2011 League Cup triumph over Arsenal.
But the Blues are desperate to offload the 31-year-old from their wage bill as he is one of the club's high earners.
