Sky Sports understands that Bakary Sako will undergo a medical at Wolves on Wednesday ahead of his proposed switch from St Etienne.
Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that the midfielder was closing on a move to Molineux.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to England for some time, and a deal could finally be completed this summer.
Wolves have set their sights on Sako after reluctantly agreeing to the sale of Matt Jarvis to West Ham.
The funds generated by that deal have allowed them to dip back into the transfer market for a replacement.
Sako is considered to be the man best suited to fill the creative void on the flanks for Stale Solbakken's side.
Should the former France U21 international come through his physical examination on Wednesday, Wolves will look to tie up an agreement as quickly as possible.
