Sky Sports sources understand that Tom Huddlestone has passed his medical at Stoke.
Tottenham have agreed to let the midfielder join the Potters on a season-long loan and the deal could now be completed in the next 24 hours.
New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was willing to let Huddlestone go in search of regular game time following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 25-year-old, who signed from Derby in 2005, won three England caps between November 2009 and May 2010.
But his career has since been hampered by injury, restricting him to 14 league games in 2010/11 season and just two last season.
Huddlestone is now looking to kickstart his career, having shown he is back to full fitness by playing during Spurs' pre-season campaign.
