Sky Sports understands that Blackpool and Middlesbrough are battling for the signature of Nottingham Forest's Ishmael Miller.
Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll is set to sanction Miller's exit from the club, having snapped up Simon Cox earlier this summer.
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is a huge fan of Miller having first signed him during his time at West Bromwich Albion.
Since arriving at The Riverside, Mowbray has tried on more than one occasion to bring in Miller but for various reasons has never been able to get the deal over the line.
Now he is hoping that Miller will seal a deal with Boro, who are desperate to add a target man to their promotion-seeking squad.
However, Middlesbrough are not the only Championship side looking at the 25-year-old former Manchester City youngster.
Sky Sports understands Ian Holloway's table-topping Blackpool are also in the reckoning and are hopeful of snatching Miller from under Boro's noses.
It also believed a couple more Championship clubs are monitoring Miller, but have so far yet to make a move.
