Charles N'Zogbia is determined to provide more of a threat in the final third this season, as he looks to kick-start his Aston Villa career.
The Frenchman joined Villa last summer but struggled to produce his best throughout a disappointing debut campaign, netting just two goals.
Such a return hardly justified his £9million price tag, with spells at Newcastle and Wigan suggesting he is capable of much more.
N'Zogbia accepts as much and is looking to bring a ruthless streak back to his and Villa's attacking game.
"I definitely need to be getting a few more goals and a few more assists, that would be good," he told the club's official website.
"The thing I've got in my mind is just to play my best, to show my skills and that would be a good start."
N'Zogbia was deployed on the right wing in Villa's Premier League opener against West Ham on Saturday but has also been used as a second striker by new boss Paul Lambert during pre-season.
"I've played in that position before when I was in Newcastle and even when I was in Wigan, so for me it is nothing new," he said.
"If he asks me to play in this position, I would play because I know what to do and what not to do.
"And if I am playing in another position I am happy to play there too. For me it's just to be on the pitch, doing my best and winning the game."
