Augsburg general manager Manfred Paula has sought to distance Torsten Oehrl from reports suggesting he is the subject of interest from England.

Speculation has linked the German frontman with a summer switch to the Premier League, with an unnamed club said to be closing on his signature.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a productive spell at Augsburg and boasts the physical attributes required to be a success in the English top-flight - as he stands at six feet four inches tall.

Oehrl's current employers are aware of the rumours claiming they could soon be cashing in on a prized asset, but Paula insists the Bundlesiga outfit have received no official approach.

Contract

"I have heard the rumours about him being of interest to a club in England," Paula told Allgemeine Zeitung.

"But we have not changed our stance. We have no plans to allow anyone to move clubs.

"Torsten is a full member of our Bundesliga squad and he is under contract at this club."

Oehrl, who netted four times in 16 appearances last season, is tied to Augsburg until June 2014.
