Michu is hoping to keep his good form going after admitting that his first appearance for Swansea City 'couldn't have gone better'.

The Spanish midfielder scored twice on his Premier League debut to help Michael Laudrup's new-look side beat Queens Park Rangers 5-0 away from home on Saturday.

Michu was pleased to make such an instant impact following his summer arrival from Rayo Vallecano, but has now urged his team-mates to build on the performance.

He told Swans Player: "It's been an unforgettable day. It couldn't have gone better. It's my first real game for Swansea City and I scored two goals and started in great shape.

"The most important thing is that the team has won 5-0. It's three points that are going to make us grow and grow into the league."

The 26-year-old added: "It's been such a good start and I didn't expect, first game of the season, to score two goals.

"I hit the crossbar as well and could have got a hat-trick.

"I'm very pleased with the fans as well, I was very impressed, and I hope I'm going to keep going."

Best yet

Michu's words were being translated by team-mate and fellow Spaniard Angel Rangel, who was not surprised at the new man's display.

"It's not a surprise to me and to us, the whole team, because we knew what Michu was about," he said.

"He's come here to score goals and he's done that.

"He's had a great pre-season and the first game of the season coming to Queens Park Rangers.

"We all know that history hasn't been very good to us coming to this place.

"We have changed that and put on a performance obviously."

Rangel hailed Swansea's display as the best of his five years at the club, saying: "Everyone has played so well and when everyone is very focused on the game, you can see that we don't concede goals and we score goals.

"It was the best performance, I think.

"We've had so many in the last four seasons.

"But, as I say, it's the greatest start and hopefully we can roll on into the league."
