Everton manager David Moyes admits the sale of Jack Rodwell to Manchester City suits all parties involved.
The 21-year-old completed a swift £12million move to the champions last weekend and the fee could rise with add-ons depending on how Rodwell performs.
Rodwell spent much of last season on the sidelines, and Moyes believes the deal was too good for Everton to turn down as he now has funds to reinvest in his side.
"I had known about it for a while and I thought it was something that was right for Jack and right for Everton," Moyes told The Daily Star.
"It was something which I felt at this moment in time was right. It gave Jack an opportunity to go to a really good club and take his chances there.
"It gives us a chance to do a little bit more business in the transfer market having raised the money."
