Everton boss David Moyes admits he may loan out teenager Ross Barkley in order to gain the starlet some valuable first-team experience.

The 18-year-old earned a new four-and-a-half-year contract following a bright start last season, but found his first-team chances limited thereafter.

Moyes suggests Barkley remains a big part of his plans but concedes that the midfielder may benefit from a short stint in the Championship.

However, the Scot will not process any move until he secures reinforcements ahead of the transfer deadline, with Sheffield Wednesday thought to be Barkley's likely destination.

"I'm thinking about getting him some Championship experience maybe in the coming month or two," Moyes told The Daily Mail.

"I can't do it right now until the squad is strong enough. I want him to go out and play. It seems right.

"I remember David Beckham coming to play when I was at Preston. You've got to remember Ross is still a boy."
