Chelsea says new additions will enhance his side's approach

Roberto Di Matteo thinks Chelsea's new signings will help add style to his side's substance in the new season. The Italian added Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar to his squad following his confirmation in the Stamford Bridge hot seat in the wake of their Champions League win. Critics of Chelsea under successive managers have held that the West London side lack flair, but Di Matteo feels the new additions will enhance his team's approach. "I said many times before that over time it will change a little bit," he said, "but I still think we have a very good core of the team. "The new signings are very good players, and we have a good team so I think they will influence the style a little bit."

Expectations

Di Matteo accepts that the dramatic Champions League win over Bayern Munich has heightened expectations at the club "Expectation levels at Chelsea have always been very high but that might have added a little bit of pressure to it. It's an ambitious club, and we know we have to try to win trophies and be successful." The Chelsea boss also confirmed that Marin's hamstring injury will keep him out of the game against Wigan on Sunday. Oscar will be available for selection, the Brazilian midfielder having joined his new team-mates late in the week following his time with his country's Olympic squad.
