Sky Sports understands Stoke have taken Portuguese winger Tijane on trial ahead of a possible move.
Tijane, who currently plies his trade for GD Chaves, is highly-regarded in his homeland and has represented Portugal at Under 21 level
The skilful wide-man has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after impressing for club and country over the last 12 months.
West Ham and Benfica are both thought to have expressed an interest, but Stoke are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring Tijane to the Britannia Stadium.
Potters boss Tony Pulis has been alerted to Tijane's potential and has invited him over for training so that he can cast an eye over him at close quarters.
If Tijane impresses during his training stint at Stoke, he could be offered a deal at the Britannia Stadium.
