Lukas Podolski has set his sights on helping Arsenal win the Premier League title this season.
The £10.9million man only moved to Emirates Stadium this summer from Cologne but is already feeling confident about the Gunners' chances.
Arsenal finished third and 19 points behind champions Manchester City and second-placed Manchester United in 2011/12.
But Podolski, who has been joined at Arsenal by fellow new arrivals Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla, thinks Arsene Wenger's squad are capable of overtaking the North West clubs.
"The Premier League has five or six teams who can play for the title and we are one of them," he told Arsenal's official website ahead of Saturday's season-opener against Sunderland.
"We really want to win this trophy and I hope I can score a lot of goals and make some assists to help the club in the Premier League.
"When you are a footballer you must be ready - you're on the pitch to win. Whether it is against Cologne or against Sunderland, you are a footballer and you must be ready to win matches."
