Daniel Agger has admitted to having held transfer talks with Brendan Rodgers and claims his future rests in the hands of Liverpool's owners.
The Danish defender is not looking to leave Anfield, but has seen speculation intensify regarding an imminent exit.
Barcelona and Manchester City have been strongly linked with an approach, with Agger having shown over the last few years that he is among the most accomplished centre-halves in Europe.
He claims to be settled on Merseyside and looking forward to challenging for major honours in the years to come.
Agger is, however, aware that matters could be taken out of his hands, with the Liverpool board set to decide which players to keep and which to cash in on.
"Yes, I have spoken with him (Rodgers), anything else would have been strange," Agger told
sporten.dk.
"We have talked about transfers, about the upcoming season and his ideas for the team and for me."

Asked if he believes Rodgers wants to sell him, Agger added: "No, absolutely not. But I do not think it is his call to make.
"I guess the owners are the ones to make that call, just like it is in any other company."
Agger accepts that he must take the current uncertainty surrounding his future in his stride, with the new season fast approaching.
He said: "It is fine with me. This is about the ability to adapt and that is something I am very good at. I do not need to know everything that is going on around me.
"Everything in football is about winning, and that is also the case for me and for a lot of other people outside of football.
"Trophies are important and I would not have stayed at Liverpool if I did not think that Liverpool are capable of winning things."
