Hull City boss says new contract imminent for playmaker

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has revealed that playmaker Robert Koren is close to signing a new contract with the club. The 31-year-old is said to have reached an agreement on a new and improved contract with the Championship club that will see him remain at the KC Stadium until at least 2014, with an option to extend it by one more year. Bruce is understandably pleased with the development and hopes to make everything official soon. "We're close, we're getting very close now," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.

Completed

"Hopefully, we can get everything completed very soon. Since I've walked through the door he's been the one I've wanted to retain. "There was a lot of talk of interest in him, but we've never wanted to lose our best players. "A player who can contribute 10 goals from midfield is someone you can't replace easily in the transfer market, especially when you look at this team's history in scoring goals over the last couple of years." Hull will host Rotherham United in the first round of the League Cup on Saturday.
