Sky Sports understands that Nottingham Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll has set his sights on Norwich City defender Elliott Ward.
The Reds have dipped into the transfer market on a regular basis since falling under new ownership.
Defensive reinforcements were quickly identified as a top priority and O'Driscoll has wasted little time in bolstering his ranks.
Ward is among those currently on his radar, along with Carrow Road colleague Daniel Ayala.
Canaries boss Chris Hughton has already confirmed that the Reds have made an approach for Ayala.
It is now understood that Forest are also looking at Ward, who played under O'Driscoll during a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers in 2010.
He has spent the last two years with Norwich and was a regular member of their starting XI towards the end of last season.
Hughton is, however, looking to mix things up at Carrow Road and Forest believe Ward's vast Football League experience could be of benefit to them.
