Curle monitoring Sam situation

Notts County boss Keith Curle would like to bring Lloyd Sam back to Meadow Lane but admits they cannot afford the winger.

Sam shone during a two-month loan spell from Leeds last season, scoring five goals in 10 games as Notts made a late surge for the play-offs in League One. The 27-year-old is a free agent after being released by the Yorkshire club and has said he would welcome a return to Meadow Lane. But Curle has already signed 10 players this summer and must generate some cash if he is to make another move for Sam. "I've spoken to Lloyd's representatives a couple of times over the summer and at the minute I just can't free up enough money to bring him in, but we are monitoring the situation," said Curle. "I like Lloyd and I think we got the best out of him when he was here on loan last season. It took him a bit of time to settle at first, but in the end he was enjoying it and was playing free-flowing, entertaining, attacking football."
