Winger unaware of suggestions he could be leaving Stoke

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has denied speculation that he is set to leave the club to join Premier League rivals Wigan Athletic. Pennant has been linked with a move to Wigan due to Stoke being on the brink of signing Michael Kightly from Wolves. The 29-year-old confirmed he had been in contact with his agent after seeing a surge in Twitter activity surrounding his reported sale but he has stressed that he is going nowhere. "Just read most of the tweets and I can honestly say this is the first time I've heard anything about me and Wigan," he said. "And I even spoke to my agent last night - chit chat - and he never mentioned a thing either so have no idea where you've heard that from, just rumours probably because we are getting Kightly." Pennant joined Stoke, initially on loan, from Real Zaragoza in 2010, but started only 18 games in the Premier League for Tony Pulis' side last season. Wigan could be in the market for new wide options, with Victor Moses expected to join Chelsea before the transfer window closes once chairman Dave Whelan's valuation is met.
