Derby have confirmed the signing of teenage full-back Michael Hoganson on a one-year deal following his successful trial at the club.
The 18-year-old joined the Rams on trial last month and has impressed with his ability and attitude.
Hoganson featured in Derby's pre-season game against Burton Albion and can also be deployed in a more attacking wide midfield berth.
Derby have offered the teenager a chance to revive his career after he was released by Newcastle at the end of last season.
Rams boss Nigel Clough told the club's official website: "We're pleased Michael has decided to join us; he's a young player who has the potential to improve.
"Primarily, we're looking for him to be part of the new Under 21 side but he will also provide cover down the left-hand side of the first-team squad."
