Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini has been recalled to the Argentina squad - and Toon boss Alan Pardew is delighted for him.
Coloccini has been in fine form for the Magpies but has been consistently overlooked by his country, not figuring at international level for nearly two years.
But new coach Alejandro Sabella has selected the 30-year-old defender in his squad to face Germany in Frankfurt on August 15.
That game is just days before Newcastle's Premier League opener against Tottenham and while Pardew is concerned about that his overriding emotion is one of happiness for his skipper.
"We all know at Newcastle how good he is and he should never have been out of the Argentinian squad," Pardew told the club's official website.
"They've got a new manager and probably that's something to do with it.
"It's difficult for us as obviously he's going to have to do a lot more travelling but on a personal level I'm absolutely delighted for him."
